Our Story

Our Story

The American Academy of Athlete Mental Health (AAAMH) was founded in 2023 and is dedicated to promoting and safeguarding the mental well-being of athletes across the United States. Our mission is to provide comprehensive support, education, and advocacy to athletes, coaches, and sports organizations to foster a culture of mental wellness in sports. At AAAMH, we recognize that the mental health of athletes is crucial for their overall performance, personal growth, and long-term success. We aim to create a safe and inclusive environment where athletes can openly address and prioritize their mental health needs without fear of stigma or discrimination.

OUR CORE OBJECTIVES

Support and Resources: We strive to offer a wide range of evidence-based resources, tools, and services tailored to athletes' unique mental health needs. We will establish a network of mental health professionals who specialize in working with athletes and provide access to confidential counseling, therapy, and wellness programs.

Education and Awareness: We are committed to raising awareness about athlete mental health by promoting education and understanding among athletes, coaches, parents, and sports organizations. We will develop educational materials, organize workshops, and collaborate with experts to empower individuals with knowledge and skills to identify, address, and support mental health challenges.

Advocacy and Policy: AAMH aims to be a powerful advocate for athlete mental health at all levels of sports. We will actively engage with governing bodies, sports organizations, and policymakers to develop and implement policies that prioritize mental well-being, ensure equal access to mental health services, and support the overall welfare of athletes.

Research and Innovation: AAMH is committed to advancing the field of athlete mental health through research, data collection, and collaboration with academic institutions. We will promote and fund studies that explore the unique challenges faced by athletes, evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, and contribute to evidence-based practices in athlete mental health.

Collaboration and Partnerships: We understand that addressing athlete mental health requires a collective effort. AAMH will actively seek collaborations and partnerships with sports organizations, mental health professionals, athletes, and other stakeholders to foster a multidisciplinary approach and work towards a healthier sporting community.

By adhering to these principles, the American Academy of Athlete Mental Health seeks to create a paradigm shift in the way mental health is perceived, prioritized, and managed in the world of sports. Together, we will champion the mental well-being of athletes, empowering them to thrive both on and off the field.
